Top Team at Burnham

On Thursday 29th November, the children from Years 5 - 8 braved the cloudy conditions to take part in the Top Team competition hosted by Burnham School. Our two schools were split into teams of 8 and they had to take part in 9 different stations. At each station two teams competed in a range of fun activities that required the teams to work together in order to be successful. Each team were awarded with points at each station and these were accumulated at the end of the day to find the overall winners.

Congratulations to Scott, Callum S, Taylah, Alice M, Chrissy, Brooke, Georgia G and Jackson P who earned the most points out of the 18 teams.

Personification

Team Electrify have done some amazing poetry using personification. We will be publishing these and putting them on the blog when they are finished. We started with an object (e.g. pencil) and then gave it some human like qualities.
Annabelle sent me a challenge: to guess what two objects she used for her poems.

He grows in the sun and shelters me in rain.
I climb through his tangle of arms while he protects me.
He sways to the breeze rocking me to sleep and moans to be free in storms.
He sees me protecting me in every type of weather.
What am I?

She listens to what I do and is never faulty.
She says, "use me, use me. No one else."
She runs across the ground as though she is being chased.
She sees the world I imagine and puts it in words for me.
What am I?

What do you think she is writing about

Writing Seeds

Over the holidays the children have been gathering 'treasures' to put into a "Writing Seeds" book. A seed is something that may be special to them and it will be used to give them ideas for their writing this term. We held a competition over the holidays for the best seed book cover and congratulations to Alice T and Haidee who won this.

Keep an eye on the blog for some of the fantastic writing that this will lead to.

Cleaning up the Liffey

Hannah and Jesse decided to do their part of looking after our environment by cleaning up the Liffey in Lincoln. They were surprised to find how much rubbish was left there. Make sure you do your part by picking up any rubbish you find even if it doesn't belong to you!

SKATE SCHOOL!!

We were very lucky to have Luke from Cheapskates come and teach us some basic skateboard and rollerblading skills.
The students put up with a cold wind and some sore bottoms and knees but a lot of laughs were had. Congratulations to Alice Thorp for getting the prize at the end. She was awarded this because she had quite a lot of big spills but kept getting up.
