Highway Girl

I have been reading the book Highway Girl for my reading activities and have enjoyed  the book a lot.

This book is set in England in the year 1670.

Susannah and her brother Dominic have to survive on their own because their mother has died. They have to pay off all their debt and have, except for one person; there landlord. The decided to run away, Dominic to America and Susannah to some distant cousins. At some point along the way Susannah has to say goodbye to Dominic and travel on her own to her distant cousins the De Gracey’s.

When Susannah arrives at the De Gracey’s she gets to stay in a small house with Bid the maid they give her. Bid and Susannah get along quite nicely and Bid turns out to be a very loyal friend. But Susannah loathes her cousins. When Susannah gets a letter about how ill Dominic is she wants to go to him herself even though she doesn't have much money to get herself to America.

Read this book (Highway Girl) to find out how Susannah gets the money to go to America. You will also follow Susannah on her trip to the De Gracey’s and find out just how much she loathes them.

I would rate this book 10/10 and it would be suitable for readers 10 years and over.

Inquiry

Our class are wanting an addition to our school uniform to make them more recognisable as leaders around the school.

Please take the time to look at our ideas and leave a message. Which one would you like to see our leaders wearing?

Field Days

Something I learnt from a stall at Field Days.

I learnt about some really smelly fertilizer. This fertilizer is made from fish and you put it on your vegetable plants or on your flowers. It helps your plants grow bigger faster.
I highly recommend you block your nose and wear gloves because this stuff stinks. Wash your hands afterwards otherwise you end up with very smelly hands.
