Yesterday Team Sonic had to make an presentation for our parents to look at. We had to provide them with information about going to the moon, what would we do, where would we live, how are we going to get up there. We also had to think about the people staying on earth and what they needed to.
We got a lot of people visit our presentation about how we would get to the moon and our game was a big hit. There was only one teacher who got them all right.
Welcome everybody! We are a group of Year 7/8 students at Springston School who are connecting to our learning and meeting new challenges. Our teachers are Wendy and Mr T.

Planting At Chamberlains Ford
On Friday the 10 September a group of 10 people from Sonic went to Chamberlains Ford to plant 650 trees for the community. It was very hot so we made sure to keep hydrated.
Besides planting we also got to explore what bugs were in the river. Jojo and I found a rare bug that only lives in high quality waters which means that the water in the Selwyn is in good condition at the moment.
We also got to do an activity called the canopy walk and build a nest to see how many rocks we could fit into it.
This was a really good experience for us to feel what it feels like to help the world and be a part of it.

Saving Planet Earth - Term 3 Inquiry
On Tuesday 22 September Team Sonic have organised a open day for parents and visitors. The world is starting to disintegrate and some of us will need to leave to live on the moon while the rest stay and help to regenerate earth.
For our inquiry mission we have investigated how we will travel to the moon, how we will live on the moon and how we can regenerate earth. We have been working on our inquiry subject for the past two weeks and have been working hard on their presentation and projects.
This is a photo of Georgia trying on the space suit for the trip.
Term 3 Inquiry
For inquiry, the senior room are doing a scenario where we need to send a big percentage of the world to the moon for 200 years.
They are doing this to give the earth time and space to regenerate.
We have been put into different groups to work on different things.
A few examples are; researching and educating people about earths problems, solving the problems, getting to the moon, the space station design and the space suit.
We will be presenting our research on Tuesday 22 September.

Buddy Writing
Friends by Adele, Paris and Lucy
Tip tap tip tap, waiting for the rain to stop. Marmalade the cat and Bidgy the budgie were hoping the rain would stop so they could play together. They sat at the old rusty windowsill looking at the stormy rain bucketing down before them. They couldn’t wait to play their favourite game of tag.
Marmalade and Bidgy had been friends since the petshop days and liked to pretend they were hunters in the wild, and of course tag! The friends were starting to get bored, so they went to the kitchen to find something to play with. They started looking around and what should they find, but a yellow bouncy ball. Marmalade rolled it away with her paw, as Bidgy flew after it.
This new game had started to interest them. They called it ‘runball.’ They played for hours and hours until they both became extremely tired, so they cuddled up in front of the fire.
They slept for a very long time.
When they finally woke up, the friends jumped up onto the windowsill, the sun was peering out of the clouds. With a ‘meow’ and a ‘screech,’ Marmalade and Bidgy scrambled towards the door to finish the day with a fun game of tag.

Cooking at Technology
At tech the cooking group made themed cupcakes. We could use fondant, lollies, marshmallow, sprinkles and anything we wanted to bring.
Some of them turned out really good and others not so much but at least they tried. The cupcakes were very yum and everyone had fun.
From this session I learnt that the orange fruit lollies are the yummiest.
