Visit from Janine (Landcare Research Scientist)

Thank you Janine for the extremely interesting talk about possums, stoats, and ship rats. We learnt a lot more about these pest animals which will help with our inquiry studies.
Janine explains about behaviour and physiology of possums.
These cards are used to measure possum numbers.
This is a real dead stoat which we passed around.

Visit from Environment Canterbury and Biosecurity

Today we had an interesting talk about the history of different pests in NZ and what is being done to control them. We also found out about a number of other pests which are present here in Canterbury, or are currently being actively targeted by Biosecurity.
e.g. Chilean needle grass, Alligator weed, Pampass grass, stink bugs, magpies and rooks, Velvet Leaf, Parrot's Feather and Lagrosiphon (an aquatic weed).

The Otago Rail Disaster

Kaylee presented her Pathway about the Otago Rail Disaster.
It contained questions at the end for the audience which was an excellent idea.
!Muy bien Kaylee!

Learning colours and numbers in Spanish

We played Bingo using Spanish phrases:
"Otra vez"
"Me toca a mi"
"Te toca a ti"
"Tengo un seis"
"?Listos?"
