The Sounds of Marlborough

Wind rushes through
overgrown flax leaves
and a gang of wekas
wake from a slumber.

At Paradise Point
children bounce
behind motor boats
on blow up biscuits.

Blue cod dangle
from fish hooks
as barracuda
snatches our meal.

The taste of sea water
mixed with a tsunami
of scallops in my stomach
and the sound of waves
still sing in my ears.

  1. A beautiful poem, Jahna. I can clearly visualise the pictures you are painting with your words.
