Thanks Jared and Scott
A big thank you to Jared and Scott who brought in some hokey pokey to share with everybody. This was one of the options in our Growing Up Down Under inquiry and it was a great way to finish off the term.

Until The Springtime Sun
Glittering snow
Falling over the muddy grass
by Haidee
Inspired by Marcie Ridlon Poem: Remember the Time
Falling over the muddy grass
Like the blanket
That I am snuggled up in now
Keeping the earth warm
From the howling wind
Until the Springtime sun.
Snowflakes are ballerinas
Dancing down
From the heavy grey clouds
To please us.
Swirling
Twirling
Leaping
And flying around my face
Settling down in my hair
To rest
From their endless prancing
Until the Springtime sun
The leafless trees
Aren’t dead
But lonely.
Lonely
And longing for a friend
For the birds
That once chattered to them
Are gone
Loneliness
Makes their leaves drop off
Until the Springtime sun
Winter
Smells of nothing
Because my nose
Is frozen solid
An ice cube
Like the frozen pond
Beside me
It will remain
A frozen prison
Until the Springtime sunby Haidee

Buddy Reading
On Friday mornings our students go and read with their junior buddies. At the moment we are also teaching them how to fold their milk containers properly.
In Room 4, Mrs Carter and I were so impressed with the class room environment that I had to take a video.

Hockey and Soccer Tournament
Today our students spent the day at Burnham competing in the local Hockey and Soccer Tournament.
Simon was helping with the two soccer teams all day and they made him very proud.
Both teams represented Springston School with positive attitudes and fantastic sportsmanship.
Watch the following movies to see some highlights from the day.

Poetry
Over the last couple of weeks we have been looking at poetry. The class were asked to write about a special place. Here are Alice's two special places - I think I can relate to both.
Tekapo
Breathe in sharp air,
Twirling snow dances to the ground,
Skis glide the busy hill,
The lake ripples gently against the stones.
Bed
Squishy pillows support my head,
Sheets wrap loosely around,
Warm duvets bury me,
Soft blankets snuggle against my chin.
A NZ Tale written by Haidee
Biscuiting
Sparkling blue-green water splashes against the jetty. I clamber onto the red and black tube that is bobbing up and down in the water in front of me. Adrenaline rushes through me as the engine of the boat begins to roar. The pale brown rope which attaches the biscuit to the boat straightens, lifting out of the water as I start to move forward. White water sprays out behind the boat, blocking the vision of everything in front of me.
My heart lurches as I zoom round a sharp turn, not in fear, but excitement. The biscuit bounces up and down in the wake of the boat, and I feel my hand slip. I have only a second to regain my grasp, but I succeed. After my near - miss, it seems as though I am going faster than before.
It’s been a while now, and I’m surprised that I haven’t fallen off yet. Every moment is still as thrill filled as the last. Then the boat turns sharply, and the biscuit is follows, but this time I can’t keep my grip. Icy water suddenly surrounds me, and I take in a mouthful of salt, the most unpleasant mouthwash I’ve ever encountered. The boat slows to a halt, and I haul myself back onto the slippery surface of the biscuit. The boat starts to whir. I can’t wait to do it again.
