The Fault in our Stars

Book: The Fault in our Stars
Author: John Green
Rating: ****
Age: 13+

I really enjoyed this book because of the detail and realism. John Green has made this book very exciting by making the unexpected expected!

This book is about a girl named Hazel who has Thyroid cancer. She has hardly any friends, (her best friends are her parents) until a strange boy at support group starts staring at her.

John Green has done a great job of this book and has done lots of research to make it as accurate as possible.

Book Review - 'Awakening'

Book: Awakening
Author: Natalie King
Rating: ✯ ✯ ✯

I enjoyed reading this book because I read a lot of books from a man or boy’s point of view but it’s good to mix it up a bit and read books about females. As I found out it was written about a girl I was slightly put off and stop reading. However, the storyline about a loner got me hooked. I mean who doesn’t love a book about lonely people becoming popular and happy ever after la de la de la. But eventually it has to go bad, such as; they embarrass themselves or a dark secret turns up.

Tamaƛ is another reason I like this book, he can do cool things such as; flying, healing, he’s good at fighting and came from a necklace. I like how he gets a motor bike because I love fast things and motor bikes can go super fast.

I don’t think I would read again because most of the thrill was from not knowing what would happen next so I give it three stars.

Caelan's green-screen challenge

My challenge would be to visit Minecraft myself. This is a picture of Steve killing a skeleton - I'm watching. I'd like to visit Steve and learn some tips off him and then go and mine or build a house. The challenge for me would be the monsters at night and the dark in the caves, and not knowing what's down there.

Alice's Challenge

This is Alice's future challenge she would like to become a Black Stick.

Emily's view

I chose this because I want to go to Africa when I'm older but it will be a challenge. It would be cool to see all the different animals.

The Great Clean Up

Our class have been signing up for duties around the school. There are jobs as far as cutting flax to sweeping rubbish on the concrete. After all, the Prime Minister is coming to open our new classrooms and we don't want our school to be in a state when he comes on Thursday.

Libby's Rollar Coaster Challenge

This is my roller coaster challenge. I thought it would be a challenge to make a roller coaster with budgeting problems and to get people riding it. I haven't been on a roller coaster very many times so it would challenge me to ride one.

Christchruch Earthquake

Christchurch Poem

The Christchurch Earthquake,
Made the whole country shake.
People were dying
People were crying.

When the dust cleared
Nobody cheered.

Buildings torn down,
Many bodies to be found.
Women and children went screaming.
Everyone thought they were dreaming.

It'll take years to heal.
Let's pray for those who survive,
To find some peace,
And hope the aftershocks stop.

Book Review: 'Half Bad'

Half Bad

Book: Half Bad
Author: Sally Green
Rating: ✯✯✯✯

I like this book because of the way the author made the story twist and turn and dark secrets turning up at the least expected time.

In this book Nathan is very passionate about his family and his blood line. I also like the way it's written in first person with his thoughts. I like that, because in movies you can’t always tell what the character is thinking.

Nathan is always on the run or in the outdoors is also one of the reasons I like this book because I love fishing or camping under the stars.

This is a book I would read again but not straight away as I would need time to think about it. I was left wanting more and I can’t wait to see if there is a sequel.

West Coast Rally

The Westland rally is held on the West Coast of the South Island. The West Coast is a cool landscape with native trees and animals. There are wekas and kiwis plus trees like ferns and kowhai. The rally stages run throughout the West Coast native bush.

The first car to start the stage is the zero car who warns the marshals the rest of the rally cars are on there way. The first car to go through the stage is Matt Summerfield, followed by Rhys Gardiner, Richard Bateman and then Richie Baddock. The cars revive their engines waiting for their start time.

Dad and I head off to the jumps where the cars can go 200 kms and get some air. We then decide to go to a corner where we can watch the cars come down the hill and slide around the corner. It looked cool but it would be scary because there was a culvert on the other side of the road. However only one car got close. It was an Evo and it only just got past the corner with my dad pointing the way to go. Another car who came too fast was a Toyota Corolla and did a hand brake turn. Luckily it made the corner! I had a great day, with lots of fun. Scott's dad was also there. The thing I liked the most was seeing all the cars.

Jackson's World Cup Challenge

I am a huge fan of rugby and to be the best team in the world is my dream come true.  I would also love to be captain of the All Blacks and hold the World Cup but I might have a bit of competition there.

Mya's jumping challange

I chose this picture because I find it rather challenging to jump with the pony and to keep your arms and legs in position.

Cameron's scooter challenge

This is a challenge because not very many people can brie-flip on a scooter. A brie-flip is when you       bring the scooter over your head and under your feet. I can't do this yet but I am close.

George's scootering challenge

This is an inward brie flip - it is a very challenging trick to do on a scooter. Not many people can do this trick. I can almost do it and I want to complete this challenge.

Matthew's Stage Show

I have always wanted to perform in front of an audience so this is a huge challenge for me and a dream come true. I always have stage fright and to perform without worries is a step I want to achieve.

Millie and Sophie's Bungee Jumping Challenge

Sophie and I have chosen to do a photo of bungee jumping because we think it would be a really good challenge for us to do later on when we are older but we are both afraid of the rope collapsing.

Macca's Scooter Adventure

This scooter trick is one of the hardest tricks to do on a scooter. One day I would like to be able to do this challenge at the skate park.

Molly's African challenge!

I would really like to go to Africa one day and I think it would be a challenge to get there! I would also like to be a doctor and I would like to help some of the people over in Africa.

Georgia's Skiing Challenge

One challenge I would like to achieve is to become an experienced skier. This would be a huge challenge because it would take a lot of practice and perseverance. When I go skiing don't worry, I would definitely wear a helmet!

Zeke's Challenge in Antarctica

My Challenge photo is me exploring the Antarctica, stuck on an iceberg. This will be a major challenge for me because I hate the cold and knowing that there is nothing but ice and snow scares me. I chose this challenge because I was so inspired by William Pike and his amazing challenges during his adventure at Mount Ruapehu.
